This usually happens when it rains. Satellite 1 is fine but there's no
signal on #2. I tried switching the cables at the box, and the problem
stayed with #2.

Do I have a bad box?

You have too weak a signal for the amount of rain. That can be either
too weak in a relative sense or an absolute sense depending.....

Try switching at the dish I have had to repair ends out side a couple of
times in the last 10-12 years, also replace one ground block, due to
corrosion

If the problem stayed on the same port after swapping the lines, it's a box issue, not wiring.
Depending on the brand of DVR it seems there is a problem with the sat 2 input.
