Diplexer question |
|
|
DirecTV triple dish, local channels.
Two 2-wire cables down from the dish, doesn't look there's a diplexer
anywhere in the system.
Three receivers, two of them Ultimate TV. Two cables to one of the
Ultimate TV receivers. Can I use a diplexer to get a second cable to
the second Ultimate TV?
I have a Terk BMS-34 (2 sat and one on-air antenna in, 4 out). Would
this one work? |

On the Terk BMS 34 the cable or antenna input is the center input on the top
of the multi-switch. Those signals will carry through the 4 outputs (bottom)
on RG-6 coax, but you need a diplexor to split the signal when you get to
the TV set. The diplexor is a separate animal from the muti-switch. |

Okay, thanks. I figured out I need a 4x8 or 5x8 multi-switch (then
diplexors, if I go to a separate on-air antenna (which I probably
will, since trees often block reception of local channels from DTV). |

Diplexer |

The switch for the system is built into the LNB assembly. You should run a line from the LNB to a ground block to the new receiver. A diplexer or 3x4 switch will cause problems.
I have removed many a switch from a triple LNB system that had serious problems for the customer. _________________ Rock and roll is like sex, if the neighbors can't hear it- why bother? |
