Guys,

I live in an area where it tends to get really windy (esp. during winter).
We know what happens when it gets windy -- the boom holding the LNB
vibrates a lot (esp. mine, it has no support struts...).

Well, the plastic LNB bracket finally gave up and broke. I tried to fix it
with Araldite as a temporary fix (that worked for about two months
until it got really windy again).

So, I'm looking for a dealer which can get me a metal replacement, or
something really heavy duty. I've made an attempt at drawing the
dimensions of the boom here:

http://www.bogus.net/~torh/SatelliteBoom.pdf

The LNB itself has an inner angle (_/) of about 125 degrees.

So, either an LNB bracket which fits the current boom, or a replacement
boom and bracket.

Anyone got any suggestions for dealers in the UK/EU?

Thanks guys,

T

You don't say how large the dish is. If its under 1m the
simple answer is to get a new dish and to buy a better
made one that the present. The price is a lot lower than
getting something specially made for the eisting dish
unless you can do it yourself.

Nice drawing.

Now take a look at

[ no conection with the company apart from being a happy client ]

The temporary nature of the fix could be due to using Araldite on an

all-plastic bracket (if that's what it is) rather than a solvent
adhesive. Epoxy adhesives don't work too well with various plastics
(polythene being the worst IMU) so vibration can eventually break the
joint apart. If the bracket has any recycling marks on it they will
probably identify the plastic; the only common adhesives that come to
mind are those used for model kits which should be OK with polystyrene
and the adhesive used with electrical conduit which should work with
PVC. Unless you've got free/cheap access to the necessary bits and
pieces to produce a new bracket then (if you can't get the right
adhesive to permanently repair the bracket) in the case of a smaller
dish I'd join the opinions that a new dish might be easier.

Good point. It's 90cm I think, so I might just do that.

Will do. Any idea if it's possible to get 90cm mesh dishes? (And do they
actually help in windy places?)

Thanks,
