Direct TV Receiver (Sony) & New card will not work? |

I really don't understand card system! I just got an older Sony Direct
TV box. The owner kept the card. I tried to make it work with my
present good box ( hughes) & good card. It said wrong card & showed
only a matrix.
Q-Are there different cards? Q-Does card know which box or box types
its assigned to?Q-if I had the old card that came with box, can I have
it switched owners?

What you need to do Dick, is call DTV and have them reprogram the card
to pair with the Sony receiver. Get the card number, the serial number
(and RID if it's got one) and the receiver model. Hook the box up and
get a picture on channel 100 Call DTV at 800-531-5000 and they'll
reprogram the card.
