MEDIUM - Just Wondering - Mon 11-07-05 |

Just wondering.
I have had many strange static problems that would last for a nano
second while using the BUD, but today there was a strange mess of
audio/video static that lasted about 3 seconds at 5 minutes before the
end of the MEDIUM feed.
I live within the 35 mile radius of a major airport TCA. This means
that the interference could have, and probably was caused by a plane
flying between the path of the IA6 signal and my dish. As a matter of
fact, I am right at the edge of a major approach to Pittsburgh
International. Plus, there is a small ILS airport just 5 miles north of
me. So, I am blaming an airplane for this. In case you may wonder how I
know anything about air traffic and problems involved, it's because I
was in a Air Traffic Control company for over a year at Fort Benning
and then in VietNam.
Anyhow, I was just wondering if I am on to something or if this was an
uplink problem that everyone noticed? Remember, those planes are
everywhere, and it could have been at the teleport's end.
So, how do you think the 3-D episode is gonna work? That will be
interesting.
More totally useless babbling from:

No problems here, that I recall, but I've grown so accustomed to these |
momentary interruptions that they no longer register. Definately sounds
like aircraft related interference. I get similar effect on a regular basis
with flights coming into BNA. Not sure if it's actual occlusion of the
signal, or the dish grabbing a stronger signal from the plane's avionics,
transponders and whatnot. Three seconds seems generous, my outages last
about half that, but your planes may be closer to you than mine are to me.
