The dumb DJ and Jingles on the 60's channel suck.
I want my Music Choice Oldies Channel back!
So far it sounds as good as to better than Music Choice. I think it sounds
better than XM on their receivers as I believe DirecTV is getting their
feeds directly from XM rather than through the XM radio system.

I noticed a much wider dynamic range on the Broadway station. When the
singers belt...They belt.

But I'll give the Blues and Classic Rock a try.

My experience is that, played through the *same* amplifier and
speakers, DirecTV (Samsung SIR-TS160) XM sound quality is noticably inferior
than from an XM receiver (MyFi). Back to back, simply switching source, the
sound is tinny on DTV.

I agree completely.

I belive Music Choice is still available online at musicchoice.com. I
know it's not the same, but it's there.

Aren't the people at Music Choice a little ticked off at DirecTV for
dumping their services.
Ever been to CanAmSatellites.com (http://www.canamsatellites.com/)? You
can buy either a Bell ExpressVu or a Star Choice system. Subscribe to
even the most BASIC of packages and get free Max Trax and Galaxie music
services. When I lost my DTV subscription (damn P4P5 cards!), I gave
digital cable a chance.

I still can't find a song that I know or even like on XM. So far I
hate it. Sirius is so much better IN MY OPINION.

Audio quality, IMHO, is pushing the limits of what DTV can deliver on their
audio-only channels. I didn't expect CD quality and I'm happy with what I'm
getting. IMHO the quality is typical FM quality, by that I mean I've heard
better FM stations and I've heard worse.
I don't think they're using much in the way of processing, though the one
station MC excelled at (Radio Disney sounded compression free) sounds a bit
flat on DirecXM.
Cheers: Better playlists
Jeers: Weak DJs on some stations
Overall, I'd give it an 8 out of 10.
Once they get the channels worked out (Cafe & Fred seem to have switched
places) it should work out.
P.S.: I wish they'd replace "High Voltage" (Opie & Andy and Ron & Fez) with
"Extreme XM". XM's version of Howard Stern doesn't appeal to me. As always,
IMHO - YMMV

Sounds Like DirecTv properly stopped you from theft of service. Not
quite the same thing as a loss as if thats the case, you never has a
subscription.

You want to get Canadian and American BDUs (broadcasting distribution
undertakings), the CRTC and FCC together along w/ a bunch of whiny
Canadian cable broadcasting watchdog groups together and hammer out a
deal where a Canadian can legally subscribe to the foreign satellite
programming of their choice? Thought not.
