Southern Mississippi Signal quality............

Had to go with Satellite service here since Katrina, Charter would not have
cable back up till Dec. I looked over the packages, equipment, and pricing
of both systems (Dish & Direct). Chose the Dish network for the equipment
package, and the deal for the first 3 months.

I chose the DVR-625 receiver. This is one sweet piece. Although it is not
the DVR-942(Hi Def) the picture quality is good considering the ammount of
compression that both companies use on their data. The DVR will record 100
hours of programming. Relatively simple in programming events. And if you
want to save the show, you can output ro VHS, have not tried DVD recording
yet. (will have one for Christmas).

I have it hooked up to my Toshiba 52HM95 DLP in the living room, and a 27"
Panasonic Tube in the bedroom. Since the unit has both tuners inside the one
unit, it will require 3 holes in the wall (Sat tuner 1 input, Sat tuner 2
input, Room 2 output) The remote for room 2 is an UHF remote so no box is
needed. I have it tuning on ch 73 on the Coax in the bedroom. It even
carries stereo over the coax.

The reason I opted not to go with the HD box (DVR-942) is simply cost. It
would have had to been purchaced up front ($700 US). I would rather tune in
the HD from the built in OTA tuner in the toshiba.

Have had no problems with signal strength here in southern Mississippi, even
in storms.

PS.. The dish is "SUPER DISH" Oval
