When I initially signed on the basics were only 8.95, now they are 3x

anyways,
CBC, CTV in 4-5 time zones and the networks. Starchoice is not an option
since they charge for extra receivers. Can you spell monopoly? My local
cable supplies the same for $17/month and I can even watch one channel
while
recording another.

Yeah definitely... Personally, I'm scheduling my disconnection for
December 31st, which is the day prior to when the price increase takes
effect.

In Bell's defence, I don't think they are responsible for the programming
they have available to them to pass on to their viewers. They are a
network provider and content deliverer Also, the increasing price
increases my be due to underlying increases they have to pay to their
program providers. Expressvu is far from being a cash cow for Bell from
what I read.

They do own CTV and TSN, but other than that , they have to negotiate with
the various channel providers who are licensed by the CRTC. They do want
to create the appearance of value and generate revenues,by offering a lot
of channels, many of which turn out to be a complete waste of time. But do
they really have a choice in this, when this practice was already in place
throughout the industry and in Ontario at least was started by Rogers? The
Canadian Content and licensing restrictions, mean they can not just offer
anything that is available in the US.

In regards to signal and quality, I find it to be excellent. Dishnet uses
the same technology (Echo Star) as Bell, so how could Bell's picture and
sound be different.

In terms of prices, I am coming off a 2 year contract in December
(Ultimate 7). To renew with pretty much the same programming will cost me
about $10 more. This is an average of slightly under 5% a year which is a
bit high these days, but not outrageous. I just purchased a 9200
receiver, which comes in a kit with: a satellite upgrade kit, including
dish and LNBF, IR and UHF remotes, composite video cables, sound cables,
HDM/DVI cables and SW44 multi switch. The only cable I had to buy was an
optical sound cable which gives far superior audio quality and 5..1 sound.
At $600, I think it is an excellent price. As to customer service, I have
had occasion to call them a few times for assistance recently shortly
after the 9200 was installed. I found I got through with little delay, and
the people I talked to were able to resolve my problems quickly. I know
Bell in genreal has a reputation, which has been well earned in recent
years, for lousy customer service. In think they are finally aware of
this and seem to be improving things if ever so gradually. One of the big
problem I find are the Bell World stores. These are franchises and are not
owned by Bell. Frequently their staff are untrained or poorly trained and
can botch things up quite badly. I don't know what Bell plans to do about
this, but I think this may be one of their big problems.

Finally, I won't argue that Dishnet and likely DirecTV have better
programming than Canadian suppliers. However since I live in Canada, I
will continue to support our businesses who provide employment and taxes
for our country as well as Canadian content.

Really? Would the Canadian credit card company (example Visa) cut off
your credit card for this act because it's illegal. lol Lots of people
use their c.c. to pay for a lot of illegal things (example real Mexican
snuff films, bomb making materials, etc.).

Perhaps, you'd rather live south of the border than you could get all
you want to watch LEGALLY. You know instead of being a theiving
pirate. As well, if you are still young enough, you could join the
reserves, go to Iraq, and shoot people. Then you could do something
legal for a change, and with 'Merican legality.<G>

Well I had the do your own combo thing with 2 themes & movie networks, was
coming up to about $55.00, but would have had a price increase of about
$8.00-9.00 so lucky for them, instead of getting $8.00-9.00 more from me,
they are getting only $28.00 as I cancelled everything today and kept the
digital standard with the 2nd feed for the usa networks. so they lost allot
of money with me and they didn't seem to care, told the guy that I was
cancelling because of the price increase that was coming up in a month and
it didn't even bother him. Hopefully enough people will do the same or even
better stop completely and bell will realized that they are increasing their
prices too often and too much. I'm looking into cable television now as you
can now have tv, internet & telephone & I'm also looking into another cell
provider so that bell will realize that they need to treat their customers
allot better than they do right now.

I do wish we could get disnetwork or directtv, we are in a free country and
we should be able to decide what we want to do with our HARD EARNED money.
I know I work hard for my money, over 1/3 of it goes in taxes and what is
left I would like to be able to spend it on something I really want, not
what again the government wants, it's enough they are getting a 1/3 of it,
why should they tell me what to do with the rest of it.
