Reverse Routes 2720 |
|
|
Sorry if this has been answered before. Used my Garmin 2720 and a stored
route to navigate to a location. Later, wanted to return home using the
same route, but in reverse. Simply telling the unit to go home did not
work, because with either the faster or shorter distance, it did not take
the same route I had created. Looked in the manual, didn't see any
reference to it. Surely a $800 unit has such a feature?
Thanks |

Nope - none of the streepilot GPS units do. I do not think any of the
competitors do. The reason - the return trip is not necessarily the same -
one way streets, etc. If you want a reverse route set it up on the PC and
upload it.

My original StreetPilot created 2 routes...one getting to the destination
and one for the return trip. Of course, it wasn't smart enough to know
about one-way streets.

Thanks Dave. Here's what I've done to make reverse routes easier.... stuck
waypoints at places where I want to force the route.... before highway
entrances, etc. Important to zoom in to make sure the waypoint is not on
the left or right side of a 4-lane highway. Then created my route there,
then created the reverse route. What's neat is if the mileage there and
back is way off, then you can roam the route to see where the goof is. |

I have done the same when wanting to control routes that are 'non-standard'. |
I often go to DC from Cincinnati and sometimes I want the scenic route - via
Maysville and Charleston, WV. To do that takes a lot of extra work. But on
a beautiful day, it is much more pleasant that the interstate. It takes
several via points to get it to route that way. |
