Direct TV cutting out |
|
|
The signal for our Direct TV (we're in Phoenix, AZ) seems to be
breaking up a fair bit lately; what could the problem be ?
Thanks. |

We'll need a bit more info to make any educated guesses.
By "breaking up," do you mean that parts of the image are going black?
Or is the image disappearing completely? Is it happening on all channels,
or just certain ones? If the latter, which ones? Does it happen at
all times of the day? (Some problems are temperature-related.) Has the
weather been good in your area? If you have multiple DirecTV receivers,
is it happening on all of them, or just one?
Answer those questions as best you can, and then we can narrow down
the possible problems. Good luck!

By "breaking up," I mean that the image "scrambles" and then the screen
momentarily goes to black. I have noticed that it seems to happen only
on the local (ie: network) channels, the ones that we pay an extra
$4.99 @ month to view.
Finally, we have two receivers, one in the living room and one in the
bedroom; for some reason, the bedroom telly doesn't have the same
problem.
Thanks again.

You should check your latest bill. DirecTV doesn't charge extra
for local channels. Local channels are included in all packages.
Look at the bottom of this page:

Reply:
Yes,the pricing in billing reflects inclusion of local channels in all
bills PRESENTLY.
They did not always however. As a customer of DirecTV with a 'Total
Choice Premiere' package since 1996 with all my old bills, there was a
time when they factored pricing of local channels separately than they
do now.The billings did reflect the $4.99 cost as recently as 2003.
What they STILL do now however,is bill $2.25
for EACH NATIONAL network subscribed IN ADDITION TO your local networks
that you get (if any).I get 2 national networks via the 'waiver' process
and they bill me $5 extra for the CBS and NBC nets that I receive. |

Signal strength |

Check the signal strength on both receivers. I have seen some times that one receiver will give a clear picture and another breaks up with low signal strength. If the strengths are good (90+) then check the wiring on the bad ird.
You can get a picture with lower signal strength but you should get high ninties with a pro install. _________________ Rock and roll is like sex, if the neighbors can't hear it- why bother? |
