|

Came back from an ATV ride and my GPS 60C was muddy. Rinsed under low
pressure tap water for a few seconds. Now screen appears all humid!?? What
do I do?? Yes, still on warranty, but I don't want to go without.. |

Mine fell into the snow and I found it 6 months later..No screen. I opened
it and put in the oven at the lowest setting and with the oven door open
over night. Great now.

That Unit should br WX Proof. Fogging may have occurred from screen temp vs
water temp. If screen is just muddy rinse with warm water until all mud is
off. Let it dry by itself overnight. If mud is off, spray screen with
compressed air (don't turn can upside down) to blow away minute traces of
debris. Then gently rub it clean with a photo lens quality cloth..not lens
paper. You don't want any small particles of dirt dragged around on the
screen or on a sunny day you will see scratch marks.
Then go buy yourself a PDA screen protector and put it over the now clean
screen. So the next time it gets dirty, simply pull it off and put on
another!
If your screen is showing signs of water inside the unitl...Call
Garmin....That is a design flaw and should be dealt with the sooner the
better.
And if you can't be without a unit tell them that and have them send you a
comparable unit until yours is fixed.

Water was definitely under screen.
I can't get clean by just removing screen protector (which I use) because
entire unit was muddy.
I took hair dryer to unit and bubbles of water under screen left, but screen
became very humid.
Left out over night and everything appears fine now, BUT the issue of
waterproofness remains: this unit is definitely not waterproof for
"submersibility upto 30 minutes" if I rinsed it for a few seconds (literally
less than 10 seconds of gentle water). I'll send for repair, but hoping I
get a new unit, not a repaired one....
Surely garmin wrrty isn't going to give me the "You shouldn't place under
tap" line, are they???
Frustrating cuz I've convinced 3 other guys to buy the same unit. I hope
they don't come after me once theirs get wet....
