Hi,
I am setting up motorized system, trying to find AMC5 at 79.0W(true
south for Toronto, Canada).
I pointed the dish using compas to the south. I am now
fiddling with dish elevation and rotating dish/motor combination on the
pole, using receiver ( Pansat 3500 ) signal/quality indicator; I am
also using sat finder. No luck so far.
I was able to find AMC5 couple of nights ago just holding the dish, but
now have hard time.
Any useful tips ?

Regards, Ranko.

Finding due south is not always easy. I couldn't read my compass
accurately enough when trying to allow for the magnetic variation. I
finally lined up two long vertical stakes along the line from the dish pole
toward the sun at exactly noon local time and set the dish accordingly.
Worked fine. I am at 75.3 degrees West here near Ottawa. The USALS system
took care of the rest once I had found the first satellite. .
