Dish |
|
|
OK, I give up on Dish. I have had them for 8 years now and I still can't
talk to them.
I have emailed them 4 times trying to see what they have to offer and they
won't tell me. They insist I call their phone number. I tried a while ago
and got a nice girl to talk to. Trouble was, I think she had a mouth full
of marbles. I couldn't understand her at all. She wouldn't transfer me to
a supervisor even after I assured her it wasn't to chew her out to him.
I'm paying 67 now for dish + 45 for RR.
Cable is offering me 200 channels, 14 HBO's, 12 Encore's, about 25 channels
of "On Demand" AND Roadrunner for 65 per month guaranteed for one year and
then goes up 10 bucks the next year guaranteed. In addition, I can rent a
DVR for 4.95 a month but I may just go out and buy one. 5 X 12 = 60 and I
think I saw one the other day advertised of 45 after rebate.
For those thinking of Dish, give it a lot of thought.

How about the monthly subscription ($12.95) to use the TIVO or
ReplayTV box?

This is a promotion special to get me off dish and it is 4.95 per month as I
stated. Cable salesman just left and I have a signed commitment for what I
originally listed including the price I showed. Dish just got too big I
guess and don't care anymore. I'm glad to leave them.

My objection to them was mainly the inaccessibility to them. |
I had a good deal offered to me from cable (as stated before) and I asked if
Dish had anything like it. They wouldn't even answer me in email questions,
just kept saying call so and so number. Near as I could tell when I did
call, all she wanted to do was sell me more options than I had. I say near
as I can tell because she was hard to understand. I have 180 channels + 7,
HBO's + several Encores. I sure don't need more from them. I get my local
channels off my roof antenna. Cable has the locals included.
I signed cables commitment a while ago. Not a contract in that sense of the
word because I can leave anytime I want with no penalty but it spells out
pricing for the next 2 years. I'm paid up /w dish to Dec 17 and I have
cable set to fire up on the 16th. I did choose to take their DVR for 5
bucks more.
Another plus with them. If we go to SouthPadre Island for a month next
spring, we can get credit for that month and Dish wouldn't give me credit.
792 dish + 540 (RR) versus 747 (11 months) cable looks like about 585 saved
per yr. Bye bye dish.

Then call again, (if yer too stupid to go to their web page to find
out ALL that they offer) and get a different operator to yap at.
After all, there's a reason they don't reply to e-mail. :)

For those out in the boondocks, DISH/DTV is the only option when cable
TV is not available.
But then again, my cable company also offers great discounts on package
deals that include Cable TV/Phone/Internet.
Satellite can NOT do anything reasonably well, except TV. |

Because I want everything in print. Some dumb girl can tell you anything
and later you get billed for something else. If they won't answer
correspondence to them, I want nothing to do with them.

Yep, the reason is that they don't want to put it down in print. The way
you are sticking up for their arrogant practices makes me think you work for
them. As a retired contractor, I can't believe they care so little about
their customers that they would drive old ones off BTW I figure a saving of
around 585 bucks a year. No wonder they didn't want to talk..

I guess that shows there are at least two stupid responders because
*everything* *isn't* on the web page.
Last year when they were giving the moon to new subscribers, I asked what
they would do for me after 7 years. I was transferred to a supervisor and
from there to HIS supervisor and he agreed I needed something for being so
loyal all those years. He sent me postage paid, the DVR and free of rent on
it.
All I asked for this year was for them to be completive with cable and they
wouldn't even answer, yea or nay. Their loss!!

Re: Dish |

Dishnet customer service sucks big time. I have been in technical customer
support for 15 years for a world wide company and I have gad bad experience
with dishnet almost every time.
Once they had me on the phone troubleshooting for 2 hours why my west coast
stations package disappeared from my channel line up. after 3 phone calls
they finally read the notes on my account that the local stations denied me
the access to network stations not local to my town. Do not even get me
started on how they had me petition the local stations and what they said
would happen was not the truth. 6 months later I still did not have the east
and west coast network packages. Now they took away the Russian Channel One
that had all new stuff and replaced it with an old crappy movies and old
documentaries. they also never told us about a package of 2 Russian channels
that started after we signed up coasting an extra 5 bucks per month
$60/year). Not proactive notification at all.. Also I called them 3 times
when we were ordering the Russian channels to make sure they installed the
correct SuperDish 121 and not the 105, but after installing the guys went in
and tried to bring up my;coal channels and could not figure out why they
could not. they had me turned on to the Russian channels and the antenna was
for the wrong satellite. A whole day wasted that I took off from work. They
order even stated the correct channel but the wrong antenna to install.
you best bet is to do all from their internet site as their people are not
very savvy on the products.
I am critical of any customer service, but they take the cake with alot of
their reps not trained very well. We are leaving them to get DirecTV who
has a better;lineup of Russian channels (they just announced an new lineup
of international channels). BTW I am not Russian but my wife is.
