I think I have a problem Houston!!!

I've had the Humax VACI-5300 for over 3 years now and only had a problem 12
months ago with the power pack. I am in the Noth West in the UK.

My daughter's boyfriend lives with us and watches some of the Greek channels
on Hotbird at 12187MHz (from the OTE NeEtwork) to keep up to date with the
news and current affairs - he's from Corfu.

A couple of months ago this particular group of channels (OTE) went blank -
they had a 'signal level' but no 'signal quality'? At first I thought it was
all the vertical channels on Hotbird. But I found a few horizontals and some
on Astra that were the showing the same symptoms!!! I am sure that most if
not all were in the clear.

I sent a detailed EMail to HUMAX support who asked for more info, but due to
a family bereavement I have been pre-occupied.

Recently I checked it again and the 'signal quality' has returned, but I
still cannot see the channels, although the ? HELP button on the remote
control displays the channels as being clear.

The normal screen alternates between the red banner saying that the "Service
is not running or scrambled" and the blue pop-up says "No smart card Please
insert Viaccess card"

Recently I installed a Matrix Reborn CAM although I have not used a card in
it so far. When installed it asks for a Viaccess Card on these channels.

I was wondering if it is a fault on:-
1) The receiver itself
2) A faulty LNB
3) Viaccess-1 has changed to Viaccess-2
4) These stations have introduced Viaccess-x encryption

I would be extremely grateful if anyone can check the following channels to
see if they are clear or encrypted:-
HOTBIRD: 12187MHz V SR27500 3/4 (OTE Network)
OTE
REFORM TV
SMART
RTS SAT
TV MAGIC
EXTRA 3 CHANNEL
ERT SAT
HOLIDAYS IN GR CH
TELEASTY
MKTV
INTERNET DATA

I still have a some other channels with no 'signal quality' and as an
example they are:-
ASTRA-1: 22478 V SR2200 5/6 (Canal Satelite)
MOSAICO
TAQUILLA 12
TAQUILLA 13
FASHION TV
TAQUILLA 0

EUTELSAT-W2: 11095 H SR27500 3/4 (Deutsche Telekom A)
KURDSAT
SPICE PLATIGNUM
RAPS
BTV-IP
CNL NEW LIFE CHANN
BREAKING THE ICE

I also noticed that Motors TV channel which went encrypted a while ago (I
believe) is now viewable, but only when I install the Matrix Reborn CAM ?
Does that mean it is Viaccess-2?

Please feel free to EMail me direct as I would be grateful to an end of this
mystery and misery. Thanks in advance.

Ron.

Check out www.lyngsat.com for full channel info.

Have you tried rescanning the satellites? The PIDs may have changed.

These greek channels have gone; moved to the Hellassat mostly.
If you do a rescan you'll get just some back...

Jomtien,

Thanks for that tip - never thought about it!

I took the info' from the What Satellite magazine - obviously Novembers
issue that I bought in October was already well out of date?

Seems they have all migrated to Hellas Sat at 39 degrees East, but I have
located ERT SAT on Hotbird on its new frequency. My daughter's boyfriend is
still happy as this is the news channel for him.

Thanks again for that meaningful tip.

Cheers,
Ron.

Spice Plat on Hotbird is OK, and is 24 hours, so no need to wait for
after 11 for a shifty.

Trouble is my Matrix Reborn CAM prevents me watching FullX3M (11508 on Astra
on my MIRLIN CAM) and I have to pull the Matrix CAM otherwise the picture
flashes on and off?

When I first installed the Matrix CAM there was no problems, but I did not
have Spice. I played with the settings on the Humax Menu, then this started,
but I noticed over the weekend that I now get Spice on the Matrix CAM?
