Hi Dear ,

I want to select GPS chip which has update rate of 5Hz NMEA
format , can anybody guide me for this gps chip selection .

The SiRFstarII/e and SiRFstarIII has listed spec of max update rate of
10Hz. The actual update rate supported is determined by the firmware
(also related to the CPU clock speed supported).

If you are able to ask chipset vendor to customize a version of their
GPS firmware for you, most GPS chipsets should have no problem
supporting 5Hz update rate. Since most applications are not for
high-speed and requiring low power consumption, default update rate of
1Hz is mostly seen.

Garmin GPS 18 is available in a 5 Hz variant, see:

Also, u-blox Antaris based OEM modules can do up to 4 Hz:

Not a chip/chip set, but a 5Hz OEM unit.
I did some informal testing of the unit
Do a google groups search for

"Evaluating the GARMin OEM GPS 18-5Hz"
