Help Jtagging |
|
|
I am wondering if there is anyone in the Moncton area that can help me JTag
my 3100. I have a EJTAG with Pogo pins, the machine has a Lock installed.
Been reading for a week now but can't seem to get it done. Tried a number of
different ways, still no luck. If need be I will pay for your time. I had
no problem with the 2700 but my frustration level with the 3100 is high.
Thanks any help would be appreciated |

Here's an absolutely lazy, cheap bastard passive jtag setup that has always
worked for me. For about $3 bucks I can install one in every IRD (not
including the db25 extender cable):
* one parallel cable extender
* five 100 ohm 1/4 watt resistors
* db25 male plug with solder cup ends
* short length of wirewrap wire, about 6"
Just solder the resistors directly to the ejtag port on the top-side. With
a bit of skill you can heat the pads and insert the ends of the resistors
right into the existing holes, and add a little solder just for strength.
Then solder the other ends of the resistors to the db25. Use a clipped-off
resitor lead to bridge pins 18-25 of the db25, and ground to something
groundable like the top of one of the modulator shields. There's a top-view
reference diagram of a 3100/301 ejtag port in this document you can use for
exact connections: http://techtimecomputers.com/Projects/dss/bjtag102.pdf
Just use the parallel cable extender to connect PC to db25, load up jkeys or
wall and have fun. It's a lot simpler than it sounds and works if your
careful.
The only catch to this setup is occassionaly it doesn't work with 100 ohm
resistors. In that case use 33 ohm, or use two 100 ohm in parallel (gives
50 ohms). |
