Thanks Jim for the listing.
For anyone curious to see the product it is necessary to enter a zip
code, 21002 works ok.
I'm keeping an eye out here in the UK as it is rumoured the satellite
receivers will be on sale again before Christmas.

When ever mention of these Lidl promotions is made in these newsgroups
there is always someone who comes on saying the photo or product
description cannot be right. Only to be proved wrong when the product
appears in store.

For this latest offer I notice the photo shows the previous case used
for the SL55 model. (personally I think it more modern looking than
that used for the SL65 model) Perhaps when you pop over and see
these you say whether they are the SL55, SL65 or whatever model.

........and if you buy one, and it is as illustrated, does it use the
switch mode power module used in the later SL65 model, that is, the
one without the large heat sinks?

Lidl promotional material for the SL65, 1 Sep 2005 claimed

"Can be used to receive Sky, but will require a subscription to the service"

I wonder where anyone managed to insert a card!

Perhaps the promotional manager found out!

Which reminds me. Slightly OT but WTH. Lidl's cheapo DVD players have a
slot for SD cards! They'll read MP3s, JPGs, you name it.

They were sold out by 8:15 am on the first day at most LIDL UK
outlets. The pikeys were buying them by the barrow-load to sell in
the market or on eBay.

I see they're doing TDT receivers for 60 euros as well.

Somewhat pointed hint, there, Jim!!!!

Yeah, I saw that too, I think you had better get one from
there as at that price with a three year warranty its hard to
beat and will be the correct unit for the market.

I'll be over for a few, providing the pikeys have not
preceded me with a barrow ...

It also says 'Receptor de radio incluido.'

I haven't found any radio channels with my UK freeview
box, nor have I found any DAB broadcasts, so if there is
anything there this may be the set to get it.

Well, the UK sets are now considerably cheaper, but the question is
what does a TDT box do that a DTT does not? OK this may not be
satellite but it is life as we know it, Bill ;)

I am listening to BBC Radio 3 on my old Philips On Digital DTR6370 DTT box,
as my FM tuner blew up and the quality of DAB is very poor compared to
either FM or DTT. The UK DTT system has dozens of radio stations. Were it
not for that, I would probably listen on satellite - but I would need some
cabling and a second receiver to do that.

There are quite a few radio channels on the UK digital terrestrial
service, including all the main BBC ones. However, it's nothing
whatsoever to do with DAB - which is far lower quality!.

I'm curently listening to radio 3 via satellite, where the quality
exceeds that I used to get on my Quad tuner in the UK with a loft
antenna. UK DTT does not have any planned coverage :)

Currently using a LIDL SL65 with the optical output which provides
electrical isolation between the receiver and the HiFi & computer.

Get one next time they come around, there are more channels on
satellite than DTT.

RNE 1, 2 and 3 are on the same MUX as TVE 1 & 2 (at least, they are
here on the CB). Picking them up fine with my Grundig DTR 2420.
