I just starting playing with the the routing features of Mapsource.
Much to my disappointment the routing properties are global rather than
being a property of the route or better yet route group. I use
Mapsource for a couple of routing needs. I use it for my bicycle and I
use it for my car. I can set the routing properties to bicycle, good
enough but it still picks dangerous roads as part of the route. Yes I
can add this to the areas to avoid but I might want to use these roads
for my car.

At the very least the areas should be tied to the vehicle selected.
Same thing for the MPH settings. I can travel a lot faster in my car
then on my bike. Why should I have to reset these figures every time I
switch vehicles?

Your complaints are known by me too.

I have a 96C and I use it in both car and aviation modes.

In car mode I want alarms closer than in aviation mode.

I also don't like that the "beta" version is constantly being
promissed to be fully released, but still isn't.

I'm going to now post my bitching session about a few other things
with their GPS unit and the Trip and waypoint manager program.
