Does anyone know what is happening to the Olisat channels (TV Chile, TV
Colombia, Venevision) which disappeared from Hotbird a month or so ago?

hI,

Look at their website;

http://www.olisat.com/

seems they are down for now... probably not making enough money to
keep it up I would guess. It's a shame that relaying seems to cost
so much that it prohibits all except the most wealthy parties
wouldn't it be nice if we could all zap 5,000 channels of world
t.v, a great educational tool besides everything else ? :)

If you just wanted to hear from those parts then you might try
getting a shortwave radio receiver and having a look at that...

bestwishes
laura

Last week they were on Eutelsat W3A but seem to have moved on again,

one of the channels being replaced by an Italian shopping channel.
Next week they could be anywhere but don't expect the parameters to
stay unchanged for more than a week if you do find them.

As far as I remember,

about a year ago, some of them had a scrolling banner saying that
they'd be going subscription only real-soon-now. It never happened,
so I assume that not enough subscribers were found.

It would indeed be interesting to see entertainment channels from
the whole world. I guess we're going to be restricted to those with
sufficient economic clout or those with a significant diaspora that they
want to keep in touch.
