Denver 5 History

Postby BigFoot » Tue Dec 06, 2005 12:08 pm

Except for Denver's ABC, which has been relocated on Transponder #2, all the
other Denver Stations have DishNetwork infomericals.

Flashback 2000 - Denver's PBS was taken off the air and replaced with
Dishnetwork commericals. Did this happen in Dec, 1999 or Jan 2000?

What next?

They [Echostar: DishNetwork] were the uplinkers; and my guess is, the rent
paid for those transponders were up at end of December; hence, they took
everybody's December's payments to uplink their DishCommericals; ain't that
a kicker, TVRO users paying for their commericals...can you say tight-wad
Charlie?

Don't know if I'll get
my money back.

If you are Lucky, they will give you a "Free Dish," with your payment going
towards your Dish Contract, if you choose.

I'm sure their fine print says, "that's tough," but taking people's money
when THEY KNEW is was going down is unfair.

I've been paying month to month for several years...and NPS would not let
you take out a yearly subscription.

Denver ABC was always on transponder 2, look for it to go next, my bet is
they are leaving it there as a tease or until the uplink gets it switched
over too.

I suspect that when things get ironed out the NPS will be willing to offer
longer term subs. Possibly they are trying to avoid offering subs for long term
because of uncertainty as to how long the analogs will be up there.

They also are in breach of contract with NPS and SRL. Their contracts
specifically state that they must give notice to NPS and SRL that these
channels will be cut off. There was a specific time frame given in these
contracts.

The point is if they are not willing to abide by existing contracts with other
companies there is no reason to believe they will abide by contracts or
agreements made with their customers.

NPS and SRL are in negotiation with comcast to offer the digital (4DTV
compatible) feeds of these channels that exist on AMC-1.

| Well, in was not a SCARE tactic by Netlink to get you buy Dishnet. They
| really were ending the signal.
|
| I am surprised that NPS thought that nothing was happening! Then poof they

|
| When I talked to Netlink they were absolute about the sigals ending NOW

Ooops...you are right....I only subscribed to Denver CBS, which was on
Transponder 6; so they have switched my subscription to ABC.

I only used Denver CBS for watching the "late" evening news, when I missed
the other earlier national news.

I got an e-mail from NPS today about it (a mass e-mail) and the tone
of it seems pissed like the rest of us.

Well, now the ABC is gone [Transponder 2].

In your face dish-infomecials, I wonder what people think?

I talked to someone today who has used TVRO for years because of the
quality, and he was not aware of NPS after all of these years; but he is not
a TVRO geek. He tried DISHNETWORK a few years back, but after he bought a
large HDTV set and saw the shitty picture, he had the store come pick it up.

Oh well, quality was excellent on Denver5...Goodybe.

I thought that this was going to happen at the end of the month/year.

For those who are unaware, the W0KIE audio feed that was on tr. 5 with
Denver's
FOX-31 is now on IA6, tr.1, as a 6.2/6.8 wide band - and happy with its
porn
neighbor. :-)

At least we know that "ten" will be around for a while longer!
