Hi

I see that Mio Gps PPCs come with 'Miomap'. Assuming it isn't very
good, is it possible to use things like TomTom and Route 66 instead,
using the internal GPS receiver?

TIA

Try it before you swap apps. I've heard it is pretty good and has all the
features you most likely want so do get a feel for it before trying to install
something different.

There did used to be a big difference between the good software and bad, e.g.
when Destinator 1 was head to head with TomTom (in the guise of Smartpath City
and Smartpath Trip - which equated to navigation by street in a single city,
and navigation by major road in an area of a country.) When D1 gave you the 3D
view while TomTom was limited to 2d only, there was no comparison. Destinator
was way ahead. Now they all do 2d and 3d and so forth, it becomes far less
significant.

I gather the Mio is pretty much equivalent to a Go but is slicker, costs a bit
more, lacks the additional cost features like online traffic information.
Actually, I'm not sure it lacks that.

Anyway, "don't assume it's worthless" is my point. You may not need to get
TomTom or whatnot.
