UK Freeview receiver in France ? |
|
|
Hi,
I live in the UK, but I spend most of my holidays in France.
I would like to buy a Freeview interface for my laptop and I would like
to know if it will also work in France. It might be as the DVB standard
look similar, but I would like to know if I should focus on a
particular model/brand of interface or if it just does not matter at
all ?
Has anyone experienced watched French TV programme (also called TNT)
with a Freeview adapter from the UK ?
Thanks. |

You would have to be very close to the UK to get UK DTT in France. In
fact the transmitters are specifically designed to prevent this.
Basically for UK digital TV reception in France you need satellite and
that works just fine on all channels all over the country.

Most newer DTT units are designed to receive both types of DTT signal.
This is not the case with older ones.

That's all true but is not what the OP was asking about.

AFAICT, the USB or PCMCIA DVB-t adapters he's referring to will work
both in the UK and on the continent, but there may be a question mark
over 'digital teletext' services. According to specifications I've
looked at, the UK MHEG format seems not to be supported.

Really? It seems to be precisely what he was talking about.

This also appears to be what I said.
