Be carefull upgrading Mio Maps |
|
|
Be careful upgrading from Mio map version 1 to version 2 ,
I have tried to get this up date from Mio but the free offer ran out at the
end of November (I found out about it on the 30th of November).
Mio told me to go to the firm that sold it to me and they may have some free
offers left ( I bought the MIO 268 in May this year).
A friend if mine who wanted the whole of Europe told me you will have to pay
for the upgrade but this will include the whole of Europe , as against the
UK maps only free upgrade to version 2.
The Global Positioning Systems firm that sold me the Mio in May 2005 told
me that they did not have any free upgrades but would sell me an upgrade for
£55.28 plus vat.
I ordered it and installed the programs into my Mio and found that the
version was version (one) not 2. Be fore you say he should have looked and
its his fault. I suppose I should have but I believed that Global
Positioning Systems where up to speed on Mio's offerings and would not
misslead with upgrade to multi versions and upgrade to new version, its good
to have hind sight before the event but I'm not psychic.
When I complained I was that told me the clearly this was an upgrade to the
whole of Europe not just the UK form the UK version and the Upgrade for
Version 2 was for the MIO 268 + .
I checked with Mio and the upgrade was for MIO 268 and 268+ .
The bottom line is I have paid for a program I already have and not the
latest version and they wont budge. If I still want the upgrade to version 2
I will have to pay again I feel I have been sold an old version. and they
are off loading it on the unsuspected.
It a shame that Mio does not offer upgrade that one can pay for as one does
with any another Software. Giving time limited fee upgrades is all well and
good which cost them money as you have to sent the old CD back to them.
wouldn't it be simpler to offer upgrades that only work if you have the
original CD.Mio are to blame for the confusion but this is no excuse for
Global Positioning Systems stance on this
Be careful with these people or any Internet dealings all complains are via
email whilst one can get sales on the phone at a drop of the hat. with
emails it ends up a war of attrition where they hpe you give up only ask one
question at a time dont send two as they will only anwer the question they
can fob you off with.
