Oval dish for local channels |
|
|
Suddenly I need to get local channels on my three year old DirecTV
installation, so the new oval dish is necessary. DirecTV's web site
says this is free, but that it will be delivered by the local installer,
and installation will also be free. The web site doesn't answer my
question: Can I just get the dish and install it myself? The current
installation is not quite standard, is in a dangerous, inaccessible
place that no installer would care to deal with (I don't mind leaning
over my mounds of junk).
I don't have a phone land-line any more in case it's necessary to
reactivate my account in some way after the installation. Will that
cause problems? I can use my existing receiver and card, right?
Another question - is this a simple swap-out? Can I remove the old dish
and easily replace it with the new one? I was surprised at how easy
installing the original dish was and I wonder if the new dish for local
channels will be as easy to install and align. |
