Hi

I'm a very newbie to satellite TV. Currently I can get Foxtel and
Aurora on a 70cm fixed dish. I'm interested in exploring further but
I'm finding the information available hard to follow. I've looked up
many sites and Lyngsat seems to be the most comprehensive, but still
confiusing to me.

The satellites have their services listed.
Eg Optus B3 has listed 33 clear digital services and 72 encrypted.
Does this mean that I can recieve all the clear services with another
dish pointed at B3 on any decoder? Do I need some kind of card?

Are the only satellites available those listed with an Australian
footprint? If not what type of set-up would suit my location?

Anyone explain the meaning of Symbol Rate / FEC as against SID / VPID
colomn on the Lyngsat pages? Doesn't seem to make sense when tuning on
my decoder.

I wouldn't mind learning all this stuff for myself if someone wouldn't
mind pointing me in the right direction.
