What is the best software and maps in the market to be used with a
portable laptop/notebook connected by bluetooth to a GPS 20 channel
antenna ?

There is no "best", but Mapsource City Select V7.0 will take some beating.

If you want to cover the whole of Europe with one package try Via Michelin
by mapsonic thinks its about 6 CDs in the pack for about £100

I have the 2004 version of Autoroute and that has Western Europe in good
detail on it (France, Germany, Austria, Italy etc) down to City street level
but Eastern Euope not.

my NextBase, but they sold it to M$ and since then it's been a downhill
slide.

However to suggest what is best, one needs to know what the use will be.

It's the 2006 version that has built in voice. I don't know about language
choices. I would assume that Microsoft will make it available for the
Country's language that you buy it in.

You might want to read some reviews of it before you make your mind up
