Since there's apparently no word if or when TCM will be available to big dish
owners other ways (e.g., 4DTV, DBS) that means we might have to receive TCM by
DirecTv, Dish Network, or (heaven forbid) cable. I am wanting to know how TCM
looks and sounds on DirecTv and Dish Network especially in relation to each
other (is one better than the other?) and then in relation to analog C-Band and
cable. Thanks.

My provider "NETLINK" says there is no current commitment to remove "TCM" and
the "DENVER 5" from analog at this time. The rumors you here are just
RUMORS. They are aware of these rumors and plan to inform their subscibers
the minute that a change takes place.

As of now they are still available!

Thanks for your reply. I get TCM from Satellite Receivers, Ltd. On December
10th they posted the following short news item (at
www.programming-center.net/news.aspx):

"TCM (Turner Classic Movies) has announced that they will discontinue
transmission of their signal on December 31, 2004"

so from this, and the other similar items about this I've read in this
newsgroup, I assumed that TCM leaving analog C-Band is fact hence my inquiry
about getting it from DBS sources. I guess we'll know for sure on December
31st or January 1st.

I find Directv easier to deal with,

otherwise the signals are both about
the same.

You get more channels for the money with Dish. I think the quality is
about the same.
