Dear Satellitists,
I have purchased a Topfield TF5000PVR digital satellite receiver and built a
160 GB Seagate hard drive into it.
Everything works great, but there is one feature I have not yet mastered.
The box has a USB2 connection on the back which I have connected to my
laptop PC. Windows XP recognised that I have added a device and prompts me
for a driver, but does not show any additional drives in Windows Explorer.
No drivers were supplied with the device and I admit that I have not checked
out the Topfield web site yet (if they have one).
Is it possible to make the disc drives in satellite boxes appear as normal
drives in Windows? I understand the formatting is different from FAT32 or
NTFS.
Any knowledge of this particular box and how to connect it to a PC?
I have two objectives:
1. Upload my CD collection as mp3 files (ca. 20 GB in total), and
2. Download recorded audio and video for archiving or burning to DVD.
Thanks a lot

No, it's not Linux.
I've found some more information on these web sites:
http://www.topfield.co.kr/
http://www.haenlein-software.de/haenlein-software/index2.php?navigation=dvr-studio&unav=nav_progs&sprache=english
Looks like you need a free software from Topfield to copy the files to the
PC, and then another piece of software for around 50EUR to convert to a
format that can be edited on the PC.
Not sure yet if it is possible to upload the music files though; I'll give
it a go.
