Cable VS The Dish (Cable wins in my experience)
With The Dish network:
1. You have contracts that hit you with fines if you break them
2. You have to pay extra for your local stations
3. You pay for a seperate phone line for your DSL
4. You pay for DSL
5. You have to mess with outside crap like the hardware.
With taxes that's up to 80 to 100 dollars or more depending on your area.
Don't fall into the hype, it's not giving you all the info on the ads. And
then you have to put up with the Dish outages when it storms. Or you have
to put up with annoyances like when VIACOM pulled all their stations because
they were not getting enough money.
YOu don't have to worry about any of that with stable cable : )
With Comcast Cable (or other Cable):
1. You have your Cable bill that includes Local channels at no extra cost .
.. .
That's it. In bad thunderstorms it stays UP, so you can still get warnings
in severe weather.
What you do is (and the Cable companies know about this), you purchase Cable
Internet access. And that's it. WHen you have Cable Internet access, if
you plug your TV into yourCable jack in the wall you will see that you have
Standard Cable that comes with TNT, SPIKE TV, MTV, COMEDY, NICK, OH!, AMC,
etc. etc. You have Cable TV on the signal that your Cable internet comes
in and you don't need an additional phone line for it. You can just have a
cell phone if you want.
Only 1 bill with Cable. I used to do it when I lived in my other
apartments. Now I am in apartments that use their own system that sells
Sattelites and it sucks because it's either a sucky 12 channel line up, or
you have to buy Dish Direct through them. It sucks sucks suckity sux.
What they do is . . if you get Cable TV they might charge 45 dollars (in my
area). But if you get just Cable Internet and don't order TV, they charge
you 55 dollars . . 10 dollars extra, because they know you will split the
signal and have Standard Cable.
And why would you want to buy all the premium movie channels when you get
just go down the street to your video store and control the movies you want
to see? Or through netflix or blockbuster.com. There is never anything
showing on the premium stations anyway that's not coming out on DVD box sets
that you can rent on Netflix.com They have every TV show.
So dump the dish, and save your money with 1 Cable Internet bill. |

You pay extra for local stations if you have the Dish, they even say that in
their advertisements.
And I have to apologize . . I did not take into consideration that not every
one gets COMCAST in their area.
I'm talking about COMCAST cable with all those good deals . . some people
might only have Time Warner or Cablevision or some other cable service
that's not the same.
But comcast is cheaper and better.
My max bill for Cable TV, and Cable internet together was under 60 dollars
and that was with taxes included.
With the Dish
You have to pay for the DISH
You have to pay for the Phone line for DSL
You have to pay for the DSL
then you have all the ridiculous taxes
with all that you have over 90 dollars.
When I had "COMCAST" cable . . less than 60 dollars with tax included was
all I paid for Cable Internet and TV combined. I didn't need a phone line
because I had a cell phone : )
Comcast wins
PS
I also never had to pay anything for my local stations, plus I got all my
other CITY local stations where city events and shows come on and city
council meetins where you find out if your taxes are getting increased and
voting on them or not, etc. etc. etc. YOu can't even get your city station
because the dishes will not carry them at all. |

I don't know how yall get sweet deals. I had the dish, and no local
channels. I paid so much more than when I just had one COMCAST high speed
internet connection . . I paid 50 dollars and that's it. I had the fastest
interenet, and expanded cable with the channels that matter to me like
Comedy, Spike, TBS, TNT, and my locals at no extra cost.
I did not take into consideration that some of you might not live in an area
that has comcast and may naturally not understand what I am trying to say.
I've lived on both sides . . . Comcast was much better and affordable. And
now with Comcast On Demand it's going to get better. I just wish I could
have it again. I'm in an apartment complex that does not offer Comcast,
only Dish stuff. THIS is the reason I am posting this and so upset. No I
do not work for Comcast . . . I'm just a pissed off dish owner. |

I can watch satellite tv if the power goes out, using a 110v inverter and
a car battery. Try doing that with cable tv. They have amplifiers along
the line that are powered. No power, no cable tv. Just when you need it
the most. |
