Digital has additional channels and Box Office. It's decoder interface is somewhat different. I, personally, can live without this.
The 'quality' in vision and sound is the same. Sat TV on most all satellites is digital, hence the term "DVB" - Digital Video Broadcasting.
Visit the website to compare channel differences. This is for you to decide.
The 'encryption' for Austar Digital and Analogue is the same, Irdeto 2.
Good luck. |

Firstly, It's all DIGITAL, always has been. the term "upgrade to digital" is a marketing ploy. All your getting is Interactive content , that you were not getting before.

Yeah ...80% of the time here, upon subscribing to digital they change
over the LNBF to a Sharp model,It gets everyone really confused here,as
Digital Terrestial TV has just started,it gets the rumor's roaring
round the area that all Satellite signals are all analog except Austar
digital....ha ha.
Its a laugh, for $2.00 a month extra you might as well have the Austar
digital ploy.
I think the rumors are half the installer's fault as most installers
get really nevous about what they do,as they seem to think every living
soul knows exactly how much they earn and exactly how to install Sat TV
when 99% of installation's here are to unintelligent Aussie rules couch
potatoes who know nothing except how to talk crap at the pub.
You would think the installers could see crap from card sharing
types, rather than tring to baffle the inoccent...lol |

The main reason the LNB's are exchanged is, in some cases the original LNB
was single pole, and with the new interactive services they are using
verticial transponders, as well as the horzintal ones. therefore needing a
duel pole LNB.
As for stories from the installers, there telling people what there told to
tell them, nothing more , nothing less, I had an Austar salesman call at the
kennel the other week.
Ur, are, um, Do all those dishes work, Would you like Austar connected, When
I asked what I would get, that I could not access now in the way of live
sport, He ducked the question, and went on about Gilligans Island. So me
being a friendly little dog, I dragged him in, sat him down , gave him a
cup of Coffee, and let him watch Star Sports, Eurosports, etc. He said that
there programming allowed for Formula One Racing, but not live, So I asked
about the practice days, Blank Look. It was about then that I switched to
"Tempo" for the tour-de-france cycle racing. Another blank look..
He left after an hour, shacking his head in disbelief, just as Gillette
Sports round-up started. But I see that this year, there will be NO FORMULA
ONE RACING on the pay platform.
