As a total newbie to gps.......

I've been given a blazer 12

I'm in Northern Ireland (part of the UK)

On my Ordinance survey map I'm at 3500 8460 on sheet 15 which has a j in
each corner.

The readout on my blazer 12 after ezstart is SJ 3289 4524

when I put in my map ref as a waypoint it tells me I'm 39.4km away
(9degrees)

What am i doing wrong, or has George W moved all the satellites? If he has,
is ther a reset facility?

Thales don't answer their product support email so I'm stuck!

Many thanks!

Are the Map Datum and Position Format of the gps set to those

of the map you're using?

This could be the problem.

The Ordinance survey of Northern Ireland MAY have a different grid to the GB
one. There is only one option for uk and OS maps so I don't know. The
Irish one doesn't fit either giving me a 9999 map ref as I'm obviously off
the top of the map!

On a Garmin unit, under Position Format, there are:
Irish (ITM), Irish IG and British Grid

Under Map Datum: Ord Srvy GB and Ireland 65

Unfortunately, I don't know what is available on Magellan
units.

Hi Martin,
Silly sugestion but why not work backwards, go through the datums on the
Blazer until you find one that gives a position that you think your located
at then check what the datum is ?
Many moons ago I had a blazer before upgrading to a Meridian Platinum - my
son has the blazer now so if i get a chance I will take a look
