TomTom Mobile with Nokia 7610 - Does it work? |
|
|
Does any one know for sure if TomTom Mobile can work with a Nokia
7610? I have heard that it can be done by simply copying the files on
the MMC to the RS-MMC provided with the Nokia 7610 but I would like to
know if anyone has direct experience of actually acheiving this?
Thanks in advance. |

The 7610 is not listed as a compatible handset, the TomTom Installation and
maps consumes a 128MB MMC Card so wouldn't fit on the 64MB card supplied
with the 7610. If you can get a 128MB RS-MMC then it 'might' work but if it
does then it's odd that TomTom don't list that model as compatible.

I have now found the web site where someone mentions they can use
TomTom with 7610. The following text was taken from
http://www.totalpda.co.uk/ProductView.aspx?id=5064&mode=1
" Works on my Nokia 7610
I bought this praying that it would work with my Nokia 7610 which is a
revamp of the Nokia 6600. Had to copy the storage card files from the
SD card to my mini MMC all the configuration you need to do.
Make sure that you have Bluetooth turned on or it does not allow you
access to the program, bit of a pain if you just want to save battery
power and plan routes before you leave.
Works great, the screen on the phone is easily big enough for me and
the sound on the phone makes it even easier to use.
I have found no bugs as yet regarding the phones compatibility and I
would highly recommend you consider the phone GPS. Its great to show
off to your m8s, and even better give it to the misses and she wont
get lost again ?

I suspect this might be because they wouldnt want to say its
compatible if they havent included all the hardware you need to get it
working i.e. the RS MMC. |

Interesting, I take it that a 128MB RS-MMC exists then? It would appear
that it 'should' work given that information.
