Hello People

I have in my posestion a Humax IRCI-5400Z from a friend who wants to sell it
to me but I'm not sure what the difference is between the 5400Z and the
5410Z.

I am only new to the scene and have been looking on ebay at buying a second
hand 5410Z to get started, but if the 5400Z is just as good then I might
save ebay shopping and buy it off him.

Can anybody please explain the differences between the two and give me some
advice on if I should buy it.

ALSO..............If so what price is it worth .............What Should I
Pay ?

If it helps when I pull down the front flap it has a slot for a card and
then a larger slots that looks as if it accepts two PCMCIA cards, or similar
devices.

I plan on hooking it up to my f0xtel dish on the roof (left over from
previous owners) to pick up FTA TV.

Thank-You in advance to all that reply. Appreciate your feedback.

The 5400Z is better. It is more expandable. It has 2 front CI slots so
you can add other CAM's (Conditional Access Modules) which may be useful
if you want to recieve services of satellites other than Optus C1. The
5410 does not have these extra slots.

The 5410 is basically a "cut down" version of the 5400Z was aimed more at
the budget buyer, hence was much cheaper to buy than a 5400Z when new.

I have no idea what a 5400Z is worth these days, check ebay. Personally I
wouldn't spend over $200 on an original spec one in Perfect working
order.

Humax are old technoligy, but still good, the 5400 is the one to go for,
There are heaps of software downloads if your that way inclined, and they
will Tux for UCAS operation.
As for price, compair what your getting with something 10 years younger,
Really compaired with modern stuff, there only worth about $150, unless
there all-camed and // or tuxed. Then there worth a bit more.
Personnal I would buy from someone i know rather then going to a stranger
on e-bay. at least the person your getting it from can assist you with
set-up.
Do a bit of reading on Austech, theres loads of stuff on that site regarding
Humax.
And at the end of the day, there are still people out there that swear by
them,
and would never sell them.
