'New' Teenager on the Ku-band block ? |

As an Horizon-to-Horizon FTA viewer it is always an excitement to come
across a new longitude for reception of satellite transmissions via
satellite(s) unseen before.
Intelsat 603 , aged 14+ years, is clearly no newly launched bird and
probably had an active infancy over some part of the globe in the early 90s
(?) ~ but it's certainly not one of the Intelsat fleet that I have been at
all conscious of in recent years.
Surprise surprise it's just turned up at 20 west with a > 50dbw beam
maximised over England and lots of channels coming through FTA for several
hours either side of daily equator crossing transits. ( Maximum deviation is
approx +/- 2.2 degrees about the equator ).
Late morning to mid-afternoon viewing today on Intelsat 603 has included
events at several greyhound stadiums, horse-riding tracks, political
hot-spots and a church requiem.
Frequency parameters at both www.lyngsat.com/i603.html and
www.satcodx9.com/3400/uke/ are worth looking over during the daytime
transits of Intel 603 across the H-H plane.
