Phone call with tech/ customer support.
Yesterday I phoned tech support about the speed issue and was told that the
minimum is 150 kbs down connection rate.
Today I called customer support to seek a credit and was told that the
minimum is now set at 100 kbs down.
I called just for kicks I phoned sales and they are still quoting up to 500
kbs.
They also said the people in the news groups hadn't been updated to the new
satellite
and the ones that had were all working fine!!!!!
Starband is dead in my book. |

it wont be dead until you dump it.
but youre right, scamband sucks. They lie more than a
toddler.
The original advertising for Starband when it was launched
was 500kpbs down and 150kpbs up.. Sure I understand
these were 'up to' figures, but when you NEVER EVER
reached more than 30kbps upload speed then obviously
they knew before hand it was unattainable... then after
the complaints started rolling in, they changed their advertisements
to reflect new speeds... which I believe was 50.. regardless,
I never even reached that number.
Then to top it off, when you call Starband and ask them
they'll tell you anything to get you off the phone, and one
department doesnt know what the other is doing or telling
customers..
Its one big clusterf**k.

If you have a better option to suggest where cable, dsl, wireless and isdn
do not exist, we're all ears!

dialup... its better... simple as that.
I can do things with a dialup connection for 1/10th the cost
that starband cannot.
I refused to give those crooks at starband another dime. |

I bailed on SB in March. They still haven't turned off the account -
despite the fact I sent them 2 emails & 2 letters by snail mail.
They got worse by the day I agree dialup is better & far cheaper.
