Hi group,

I'm a newbie so please be gentle. (Having read some of the replies to
posts it's a wonder I got up the nerve to post at all :)).

Here's my situation:

I'm a legit Foxtel digital subscriber with one of the slimline Pace
units, the one that annoyingly doesn't have the led channel display. I
want to take the unit with me when I (regularly) spend weekends away
from home. I have 'acquired' an older, complete dish with a totally
light blue lnb, apart from the white bit on the front (pls excuse my
totally lack of terminology :)). Obviously this unit was previously
used to receive satellite signals, but only ever via the older,
pre-digital STU. (I understand that the video signal via satellite has
always been digital but I'm wondering if this one was originally setup
to receive from Optus B3.)

With the use of a satellite finder I believe I have managed to
successfully locate Optus C1, which I'm informed is the right satellite
to be pointing at for current Foxtel services (slightly up and to the
right of Optus B3, so I'm told).

However, I can't get the Pace unit to locate or lock a signal and I'm
suspicious of the lnb polarisation. I've probably not helped my
situation by making various attempts to change the polarisation of this
lnb to match the lnb on my fixed dish - they are of entirely different
types, at least based on their colour - the fixed, home unit is black.

There are probably any number of unanswered questions within my post but
I'd be really grateful if someone would be willing to assist me. If I
have to purchase a new lnb I don't have any problem with that but I'd
like to know if what I have should or shouldn't work with the rest of
the kit.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

My real eamil address is averay at tpg.com.au (I'm sure you can work out
the bits I've omitted there) or I'd be happy for any replies to come
back via the forum.

Again, thanks to anyone who'd be kind enough to help me work through
this one.

Regards,

Bronte.

I would presume mate, that your 'away from home lnb' has a different LO to
the one at home.
One could presume that it needs to be set at 10700.

in the decoder mate. If you cant access the setting, maybe 'aquire' the
same lnb that you have at home.

Ok, thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I think there's a hidden
menu within the Pace unit so I'll see if I can get into that and see if
any such option is available there, otherwise I'll take your further
advice and grab an lnb compatible with my home lnb.

Thanks again...

Ok, here's where I really display my ignorance:

Is this a setting made within the lnb itself or at the STU? If within the
lnb, is this something someone such as myself could achieve or is
particular equipment required?

Thanks for responding, btw.

Have a look at the label on the LNB, if it's not faded by the sun, They tend
to design them that way. Whatever the one on your home dish is, that is
what the receiver is set at. be it 11300 or 10700. You could also try your
spare LNB at home, Carefully remove the two hex screws in the plastic clamp,
and then undo the "F" connector. If your receiver works , then your sweet,
see if you can get into the LNB configuration menu. If you can
and you see 11300 or 10700. click on this figure and change the setting to
whatever is not shown. then see if it works.
