anyone have new install checklist / things to watch for? |
|
|
When getting a new DW system, does anyone have some recommendations
for things to watch for before the installer leaves.
A few years ago I got starband, and later found my installer had not
properly grounded the system and also had installed with an acceptable
but less than optimal C/W number ... was a fairly poor alignment. Now
that the satellite or cluster (not sure since there seems to be no way
to contact starband today :() that my starband system is down "and not
able to be repaired" I'm thinking of moving to a DW professional or
small office setup, and am wondering if anyone has a checklist of
post-install details I should be sure are correct and optimal before
the installer leaves. Also are there any considerations when buying a
DW system to get optimal performance (e.g. better satellites or
clusters you want to be on vs. overloaded segments of the network,
etc?) |

LOL (kind of... )
Actually I always took starband for granted because of all the little
glitches, but now, not having anything but dialup for 36 hours, I
really miss it already!
I'm not sure whether direcway will be a step forward or a step
backward, but I'm thinking that even if starband can get customers
onto another satellite this month, it will probably be rocky as so
many are transitioned at once. And if they are going to repoint
everyone, that could be a nightmare as well.
P.S. And sorry... this was supposed to go to the direcway n.g. but I'm
posting through the web and so accidentally posted here... since
starband is down my regular newsgroup access is out as well of course.
