Weak signals on KU |
|
|
I have a C/KU system with DVB, 4DTV, SC, etc. In the past few days, one
polarity of the KU side is very unstable. The other polarity is pretty
stable as the signal numbers stay where they are, but the other polarity
has dropped off about 50% or more in some cases and the numbers on 4DTV,
DVB, or SC are no longer stable. Bad LNB? On SC (Star Choice) that were
a solid 70-80 are now 45, 32, etc. I am using a good Norsat. Any ideas?
Thanks. C Band is unaffected.

Not the Polorotor. Checked that. I also checked every C/KU bird from F1
to Nahuel 1 and they were normal, even IA5 I had trouble with, but is
fine now. When I got back to F1, the same problem. Either the LNB is
dying on certain frequencies, or one slight possibility as we are
talking about digital KU, some twigs on the Spuce tree behind the dish
are growing out. Not branches but twiqs. However when I stand directly
behind the dish and look, it does not seem like the twigs are blocking
anything, but who knows. Tomorrow if not raining, I will try to cut them
off. I will pass along the results.
