Skycasters Aids Stranded Starband Customers
AKRON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 2004--The dramatic loss of Intelsat
Americas-7 (IA-7) has left as many as 20,000 Starband users without
broadband service. Starband is offering a dialup alternative until Intelsat
Americas-8 comes on line sometime next year. But telephone modems cannot
fill the high-speed service void created by the loss of IA-7.
In response to desperate Starband business customers, Skycasters president
Don Jacobs announced a special new program. Jacobs said, "We've always
considered reliable Internet as important as the telephone. In today's
competitive market, businesses lose money when their broadband service goes
down. This crisis knocks out more Internet users than were affected by all
the hurricanes this fall. We have to help these people."
In response, Jacobs created an Emergency Response Program (ERP) at
Skycasters. The program offers affected businesses a short cut to
reestablishing satellite broadband service. ERP makes DiRECWAY equipment and
services available at attractive prices. It also offers expedited
installation.
"The Emergency Response Program is a great opportunity for users impacted by
the outage. We've taken steps in every department to ensure fast, smooth
conversions," observed Richard McKinney, senior account executive at
Skycasters.
While the loss of Intelsat Americas-7 has disrupted operations for many
businesses, Skycasters Emergency Response Program offers a cost effective
and timely way to mitigate losses. |
