Hi

Just starting out with all the FTA stuff. I'm looking to get a setup for
around $1000. What Dish, What Receiver, Who to Install, Where to Buy?

Ideally i'd like some good advice on what to get.. My location is West
Sydney Metropolitian.

I'm looking to get maximum channels ie all receivable Sats at my location.

I've browsed some of the web forums.. but I'm always one to get real peoples
advise.

thanks.

A couple of things to consider first,
What system are you considering, Ku or C-band,
Are there any restrictions on dish size in your area.
Do you have clear line of site to the North.

Thanks bassett..

I'm looking to focus on the C-band, only because it has more FTA channels
than Ku-Band.. correct me if i'm wrong. You say Clear line of site to the
North? Why North, or it that only applicable to Ku positioning?

BTW: what setup do you have?

While there is a great deal of programming on C-band , there is only a small
percentage that is with English Audio, Something like 25/30 channels at the
present time, over the complete range from 83 degrees east over to 169
degrees East.
North is where most of the satellites are on the arc Asiasat 3s and below
are in a Westerly direction, but your look angle is considerable lower.

As for my set-up . I get everything up-there, with-in my range. On both Ku
and C-band,
Check with the links I sent you.
