I am looking to buy a new Sat Meter, I need something that can give me
a signal strength reading and tell me which Sat I am pointing at, I
have a budget of about £300, anybodys helpful comments are welcomed

Further to that post, I have seen in the CPC catalogue, two which
catch my eye, one is made by Horizon and the other by Wolsey (Sat2)
anybody had experience with these meters?

Well, i've used the satlook for a while now. but you need to up your budget if you are looking for "functions" and not just a meter. so check satlook NIT by emitor.

I tried without luck with the cheap "whistle at you" satellite meters
without any luck at all. Then I got the Wolsey (Lacuna) North/South model
and I've always without fail been able to find the right signal from then
on. I'd highly recommend it.

Well I use a Rover `SDM-2` Identisat (the SDM-1 is used by the Sky
Installers) The SDM-2 that I use you can
reconfigure` yourself and put any sat` on you want (using the correct
software and connections) I`m always updating
or changing it. (I use via my serial port on my laptop)

I have loads of different Sats on Hotbird,Astra 28 & 19, Turksat etc you can
config and update easy. I get all
the latest updates from http://www.lyngsat.com/ once its saved on you Meter
you can save it to your computer
and keep backups.

It can check for Low Horizontals, Low Verticals, High Horizontals and High
Verticals so really good for fault finding
(say if its fault in cable or LNB)

http://www.rover-sat.it/filter.asp

There are a few outlets in UK that sell them
