No, that means DirecTV is (apparently) coming to Canada.

lolz. your friend is mad gay.
How can they sell directv if foreign satellite tv service is currently
ILLEGAL and will continue to be ILLEGAL for at least another year.
See: latest Quebec ruling.
Again, your friend is mad gay.

It's possible that DirecTV will set up a Canadianified CRTC approved set
of channels to sell to Canadians. It likely won't be greymarket since
that would piss of a lot of customers when/if the greymarket loophole is
closed down again.

never happen....only can happen if they provide a Canadian version of
DirecTV that observes CRTC regulations and broadcasters rights in Canada
greymarket may be possible, The Brick and Audio Video 2001 used to sell
Greymarket DTV dishes openly in Canada ...but then you still have a problem
of activating service since DTV will NEVER accept subs from Canada.

Reading isn't your strong suit, is it?
If they set up a "Canadianified CRTC approved set of channels to sell to
Canadians" then it would be able to get CRTC approval.
Granted it might lose part of the appeal of DTV, but DTV might be
thinking that it's worth expanding into Canada to win some of the
orphaned greymarket and/or tester crowd who already own receivers that
BEV won't activate.

A well-dressed man walks into a bar and asks a woman to sleep
with him for $1M. The woman is excited and she gives immediate
consent: "Of course I'll sleep with you!".
Then the man asks, "will you sleep with me for $5?". The woman
indignantly replies, "Of course not! What do you think I am?".
The man replies, "We've already established what you are; now
we're merely haggling over the price." |

lolz, you guys have no brain.
You think we wouldn't hear about this news on the Internet BEFORE
peasant 17 year old Best Buy employees?
Why would DTV even waste their time and money and offer a
"Canadianified" set of channels when a recent court ruling in Canada
ruled that banning foreign based satellite tv service is against the
charter of rights? Wouldn't it be more cost effective/advantageous for
DTV to simply wait it out and see if their service would LEGALLY be
allowed in in the near future in light of this recent favorable decision?
Think guys, think.

direct tv canada |
|
|
The canadian satellite/cable industry conveniently forgets two facts (1) many canadian direct tv users have cable so are contributing to the development of canadian content; and (2) there are more US residents with canadian satellite than vice versa (my buddy in Georgia uses a canadian broker opposite of me).
By the way, does anyone know how to set up direct tv tivo in canada (their phone numbers are only accessible in the US and you apparently cannot connect through the web)? |
