I had seen the ground control chart, but c-comsat's information is much more
complete at this time - the only piece of information that seems to
bemissing is the upload/download recovery rate for the 7700 plans.

I have seen the pricing documents for a number of VARs, and none have
the recovery rates. Direcway has never been forthcoming about them,
and for most plans it has taken quite awhile to learn what they are
(speaking of past plans). They have never shown upload FAP numbers
before, so that's something new.

At one time they all said "upload speed up to 256 Kbps" and some still do.
Chances of getting it are slim to none. Remember 10Kbps falls in the range
of up to 256Kbps.

They get away with another type of deception (well, maybe it's just
marketing's inability to understand the technical details) - what you want
to know is the 'sustained' rate over time during a large upload, not the
'burst' rate - the burst rate for uploads may be much higher than the
sustained rate, the upload burst rate is probably pretty high, then the
ground unit has to wait for the next time window to transmit to the
satellite. So, your ground unit blasts a small packet to the satellite at
an instantaneous rate of up to 256Kbps, but, over a 1 megabyte upload, the
overall sustained rate (which must necessarily include the delays) will be
much lower. Always.

It would be interesting to watch the actual transmissions up to the
satellite to see how long the Starband 360 (or other two-way system) waits
between burst transmissions up to the satellite. Might be amusing. Has
anyone done this?
