Ok, I haven't set anything up yet, but I have aquired a dish (still
have to pick it up, but it isn't going anywhere, since it is at a
relative's)... They potentially have a servo controller, and an (old
old old) reciever. I am assuming I will need to buy the cabling, a
reciever, and a C/Ku band LNB/F. I would like suggestions on what I
will need. I am interested only in free channels (mostly the wild
feeds). I would like to recieve as many of them as possible, whether it
be C band or Ku band. I really don't know what equipment I will need
besides what I mentioned above. If it is possible to go without a
reciever and just get a PCI card for my computer, that would be
awesome. Did I mention I am a bit of a n00b to all of this? Thanks for
the help!

Right now, you need at least an analog IRD to receive analog signals,
and to control the dish. You can get DVB with either a card or a
receiver. You wuld need a C/Ku feedhorn (if theirs isn't), and LNBs
for it (if theirs aren't suitable).

For the IRD, would a UNIDEN UST-4600 C/Ku IRD SATELLITE RECEIVER work?
If not, how about a Uniden SQ560 C+KU Band IRD Satellite Receiver?
Also, if I was to get a digital IRD, would it handle analog too? And,
what would your suggestion be for DVB? Board or reciever? Can you get a
reciever that is all in one, with the IRD functions, DVB functions, and
positioner functions for both bands? Also, wouldn't Skyvision be the
place to get the feedhorn and LNBs? I have a couple of good DirecTV
LNBs. Would they work for the Ku band end?

Yes,the two analog receivers will work fine.

Depends what you mean by "digital ird." A 4dtv ird handles 4 kinds of
signals,including DC2 and analog,whereas an mpeg-2\dvb
receiver(exception -one model of satcruiser) handles only mpeg-2

rcvr,or pcb board -depends on what you want

Yes,you can get receivers that do all those functions, but one with less
functions and a used analog receiver works just as well -for a lot less.

Skyvision is ok,but Ebay is a lot cheaper!

Direct TV lnbs cannot be used for standard ku band, because they are circular
polarization, not linear and they use the higher part of the ku band
