Audio/video receiver connection.. |
|
|
I have DirecTV setup. I would like to add an audio/video
receiver component to improve the sound quality. The current
connection set up is:
Dish-receiver -> VCR -> TV (coaxial)
Dish-receiver -> TV (component video)
where will the reciver be connected in this setup
to drive external speakers?

A) You didn't say what DirecTV receiver you have
B) Unless it is hi-def, you do not have component video, you probably meant
to say "composite". |

Look to see if you have a red and a white RCA jack on the back of the
receiver, these will be the audio out connectors. Connect these to the
audio reciever and turn down the TV.

The reciever is D10 with S-video and composite (RCA
jacks for sound and video). Currently the composite out
(from D10) is connected to TV (allows video mode?).
If I take the sound part from D10 and connect it to receiver
it should work? (I am asking because I do want to invest
in an audio/video receiver unit if it won't work.)

As long as your receiver has a Tape, CD, or Aux Input you will be fine. It
would not be much of a receiver if it didn't. (They used to come as
seperates: tuner and amplifier, when they combined them they became
receivers.)
