DirecTV--false advertising? |
|
|
Several times lately I've seen a DirecTV ad that touts how the service
was up and running during a hurricane while cable was out. HUH?! Mine
goes out if there's a fucking CLOUD in the sky! A thunderstorm? No
DirecTV. A light sprinkle? No DirecTV. An approaching tornado? NO
CHANCE of watching TV for weather alerts because the signal is OUT.
It's ridiculous. How on earth can they advertise that the service is so
great and stable that it works during a hurricane?
FWIW, I've had DirecTV for about 11 years, so it's not like I'm making a
snap judgment about how it's worked for me. |

I have no problems when it rains. It'll go out when it really gets bad
though. |

I was wondering where the electrical power was coming from.
Now, if it was after the storm, and these folks had generators,... I can
understand that. |

Really? Mine is ridiculous! Honestly, it goes out with the least bit
of provocation from Mother Nature! :-( |

In Pensacola, cable TV was out in some areas for 2 weeks after Ivan. (It was
out for months on the beach.) People with DirecTV and generators were
watching TV as soon as the storm passed.

Hmm. I have no problem with rain or snow (unless it is really
fast and sticky so that it builds up on the dish). |

That's what I figured. In that case DirecTV is well within their claim.
Around here, if some drunk bastard takes out a pole, the cable company won't
call anyone out. They'll get to it the next day somewhere between 8am and
5pm. |

It sounds like you boys need to re-aim your dish. You should be getting
signal strength > 95% on all of the satellites. If not, re-aim. |
