Directv Help |

live in the Michigan area but I receive New York Local channels. I
only receive Channel 2(CBS), Channel 4(NBC) , Channel 5, and Channel
7(abc). When I tune into Channel 9(WOR) and Channel 11 there is a
message on the bottom of the screen that says "channel is not
available," obviously i'm not receiving these channels because I do not
live in NY but here is my question: Right now my satellite dish is
lined up to receive I think 110 degree satellite, if I hook up another
dish and aim it at another satellite and get a diplexer or something to
that affect can I then receive all of the locals? Please help me with
advice. |

No, because DirectTV turns on and off the channels that you can receive.
Have you called DirectTV and asked if you could receive those channels? I
live South Carolina and I get all the major network channels (CBS, NBC, ABC,
& FOX - East and West for each) They cost me about 70 cents per channel a
month.
Give'em a call!
hope that helps!

Oh! And you might even be able to get the local channels in your area
rather than NY and LA. They are currently expanding the local channel
markets. You'll have to call and ask if they are available in your area.

thats because CBS, NBC , ABC and FOX for New York (and L.A. Ca) are on the
national spot beam. Channel 9 and 11 is not (is that the WB?) , and is
specific for New York spot beam area only.
No you will not receive all locals from New York because you do not live in
the New York area, it doesn't matter what you do with your satellite setup
(which is pointed at 101) . Spot beams are just that, a beam that just is
focused in a specific part of the country. You're probably just slightly
out of the spot beam, if you were in PA perhaps you might be able to pick it
up.
You're only getting the other New York locals because some people don't have
local channels in there area served by DirecTV, and if that is the case, I
believe they can get "New York" affliliates of CBS, NBC, FOX, ABC if they
are in the east coast and L.A. affiliates if they live in the West coast.
