I don't know a lot about how this satellite stuff works. I hear
that it's "digital" and has digital sound and picture?

But we just bought a Onkyo HT-S770 a couple of months ago and are
ready to unpack and hook it up. We bought it primarily for DVD's,
so we can get true Dolby Digital surround sound from them.

But what about the Dishnet? Can we get it from that too?

What if we record a show from say, HBO or Sci-Fi channel, through
Dishnet, onto our VCR tape? Will we get Dolby Digital surround
sound when we play them?

if you record it onto a VCR tape now... it doesn't have the ability to
store that extra info... but if you use a DVR like the ones dish
network gives out for free with signups then i am pretty sure it will.

if you already have a dish then i don't know what to tell ya, but if
you dont yet then you can take advante of some of their current offers
to get the free DVR equiptment.

Dish network, along with DirecTv only broadcast DD on certian channels with
certian movies and programs. Not all channels with every program.

I have the DVR625 and it has a TOSLINK fiber optic output for audio. I will
send audio from every program to your receiver for decoding WITH EVERY
PROGRAM ON EVERY CHANNEL. But as I said before not all channels and
programming comes with a Dolby Digital signal. It will be PCM audio on all
other signals. (there is actually a selection in the programming setup of
the 625 to select; only DD, PCM, or both. select both)

The advertisment that they are all digital picture and audio is only true to
the fact that the entire signal is a digitally encrypted, compressed MPEG2
binary signal.
