Having Austar for awhile now, I got my old 5400Z out of the cardboard and
tried to see if I could raise anything. Nothing. How do you receive FTA
channels, my channel seven reception is crap due to the area I live in (
Western NSW) and would like to see if I can see it on my humax.
Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

If Digital TV Transmission are available in your area I would suggest you
buy a FTA Digital STB. Check for the transmission status of your area
here......

These boxes start at around the $70 mark for a Standard Definition Model.

there is no card relation to box, meaning that your humax is 100 percent,
compatable with austar, as they still are using the Irdeto2 encryption.
(calling it the analog system) but they two like foxtel will convert to NDS
Video guard, sooner than we know.
then you can wait for a latest patch tux on humax or so that will become NDS
compatable, keep in mind this is for the hobbiest, meaning that you need to
be an einstein to figure it out. just as they have cracked the Nds system on
a Dream, Ripurd is realy sweating over this one, and have made a statement
to ban that particular box. Ha Ha Ha. so then the whole process will revolve
all over again then before we know it it will be NDS2 and so on , but my
blabbering might get me introuble as there is no freedom of speech in this
facist """"""" when it comes to exposure of Pay TV, we can sit back and
Laugh. I like to blabber. So to sum it short Use your humax, IS GOOD IS DON
, DON IS GOOD.

What are you babbling on about "Fool" Nothings been cracked or compromised
for that matter, and without an authorised access card , your still going
to get Zip.
To date there would be about 12 or 14 different versions of NDS encryption
used in the world, so if one does happen to get cracked as you call it, it's
a simply matter of switching over to another version.
No need for NDS 2 as you call it..
While Murdoch did indeed try and get Dreambox sales suspended, that had
nothing to do with anything in this part of the world but it did concern the
Dutch system, and things are as they where before the bump.
There is also no evidence that Austar will switch over to NDS, I think you
will find that the Fox will swallow them up before that happens.
