DIRECTV Free Starz Weekend Obnoxious |
|
|
They bannered every movie this weekend with a promo ad over the picture,
ruining its enjoyment value and the real-time recording. It wasn't
necessary because between the movies, they ran non stop ads for the
service. They can keep their so-called free weekend sampler - people who
subscribe to premium services expect top quality, not messages flashed
every five minutes on-screen.
The real losers, though, were the customers who pay extra for the service
and had their programming butchered by the screen overlays.
I suppose the same will happen to HBO and Showtime subscribers as well. As
nice a set of folks there are at Directv, about the only way to stop this
is for customers to demand adjustments in their rates for programming
degraded by the advertising campaigns. |

Yes, when I cancelled Starz I got tired of the end credit split screening
(which was the reason I had subscribed in the first place...to avoid the
garbage they pull on regular channels!) because when they air on a regular
cable channel you can't enjoy the music soundtrack, plus they are edited for
content and/or time). And it's worse when you are currently subscribing and
watching a movie and all of a sudden have a banner come on the screen during
the movie saying to call to subscribe. It has happened before on SHO. When
Stargate SG-1 was shown there, it was a premiere of a new episode and it so
happened to be a free preview weekend. Yep, a promo popped up during the
episode, ruining it when I was a subscribing. |

Don't they ever send mail to receivers anymore promoting this? I understand
it sucks for people who already subscribe, but It would be nice to know when
these free previews are available.
